One day, I decided to turn my life around. To stop doing television, not to do L’instit anymore, even though it was such a big part of my life, and to become simply Gerard again.
Spend time with my family, after ten thrilling years of filming, of staying in hotels, of roadshows... I wanted to change, that was for sure, but change to what ? And so I looked around me. And guess what, I liked what I saw. In all the countries in the world, there are people who, with very small resources, manage to move mountains, and change the existence of tens, hundreds, thousands of people around them. Honest, humble people, of whom the media never speak.
I told myself I could help them in my own way. And so, for the past two years, my wife Françoise, our daughter Ninon and I have been travelling around the world to find them, camera at the ready, through Nepal, Cambodia, Bolivia, Peru, Marocco, and in France as well...
And today I want to tell you about these beautiful encounters, and to pay a tribute to them. Their stories make us feel good. There’s no need to be a saint to change the world. We can all participate, in our own way. Come with me, I’ll take you to meet them, they really are wonderful people, you’ll see.
